As UNHCR statistics generally rely on data from host countries, statistics on refugees alone can give an insufficient account of refugee numbers, as some host countries will not grant refugee status to certain groups. Including statistics for individuals in refugee-like situations is an attempt to account for unrecognised refugees and does not include internally displaced persons. Statistics for stateless refugees are included if available.

RCTV Memoria is a non-profit and independent rehabilitation centre for victims of torture and inhuman and degrading treatment. They provide medical, psychological, and humanitarian assistance to refugees and asylum seekers, with an individual approach, and a particular focus on trauma assistance. They are currently providing necessary assistance to refugees from Ukraine, including providing medical, psychological and social assistance.

The NGO upholds the values of democratic decision-making, respect for and observance of human rights and adherence to the principles of gender equality and non-discrimination. They work to increase the level of civic engagement of the population and the responsibility of individuals in power for ensuring the rights of women. Recently, the centre has been working with refugees from Ukraine to provide food, clothing, and personal hygiene and household cleaning products. They have also brought in social workers and psychologists to assist with their work. There are plans to develop their assistance and support refugees in employment so they can achieve economic independence.

Centre working to promote the realisation of the rights of men, women and children affected by human trafficking, domestic violence and other people at risk. They provide children, women, and their families with qualified social, psychological, pedagogical, humanitarian and legal assistance. The centre can connect you with legal services to help with identification documentation and preparing immigration applications. They are also currently providing assistance to refugees from Ukraine, through help to get clothing, food and transport, to arranging psychological and legal consultations.

CDA is an implementing partner of UNHCR. The CDA gives legal advice and representation for asylum seekers throughout the procedure for determining refugee status or granting other forms of protection; provides a legal adviser to be present at the interview the asylum seekers’ applications and in all cases where the asylum seeker is a minor; gives legal advice to asylum seekers accommodated in the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers; gives legal assistance to Refugees Directorate challenging negative decisions; contracts with licensed attorneys to provide legal assistance, including administrative files (illegally) and criminal (illegal crossing the state border) at all levels of court; provides legal assistance and representation before the European Court of Human Rights (UNHCR’s preliminary approval); organises training activities for judges, employees of police and customs officers, prosecutors and other decision makers; and publishes legal literature aimed at promoting asylum and international refugee protection standards.
The CDA also gives legal advice to refugees to help them integrate into society, including in these areas: employment, commercial activity (including the registration of commercial enterprise), civil status (registration of marriage, birth, divorce, death), disputes about ownership, housing issues, and the procedure for naturalisation.

The CCR offers social assistance, employment counselling and cultural activities to refugees and asylum seekers. A highly specialised public institution that provides intervention in cases of crisis for persons identified as victims of trafficking and those in risk situations. The centre originally began assisting in January 2001 with the support of the International Organization for Migration, in response to the growing demand for rehabilitation services for a large number of Moldovan women returning from Balkan states. The centre provides food, medical, social, psychological and legal services to victims of trafficking, victims of domestic violence, vulnerable and unaccompanied children and migrants.
