As UNHCR statistics generally rely on data from host countries, statistics on refugees alone can give an insufficient account of refugee numbers, as some host countries will not grant refugee status to certain groups. Including statistics for individuals in refugee-like situations is an attempt to account for unrecognised refugees and does not include internally displaced persons. Statistics for stateless refugees are included if available.

Helps to solve social problems and ensure access to healthcare and education. Refugees have received financial and humanitarian aid, medical care and medication in the community, refugee children enrolled in public schools in Kazakhstan and they are provided with school uniforms and school supplies.

Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and the Rule of Law implements the project on legal assistance to refugees in cooperation with UNHCR in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and the Rule of Law provides free legal consultations in the Bureau’s headquarters in Almaty, conducts trainings in human rights for law professionals and students, operates an assistance program for refugees, and maintains its Legal Defense Center. The Bureau analyzes legislation regarding refugees and asylum in Kazakhstan, offers free legal aid, and provides material assistance in exceptional cases. They have 9 branches and one representative, all of which provide free legal aid.
