Professor Alsford has had extensive and varied experience in Taiwan. He is an anthropologist specialising on Taiwan and holds a PhD degree from the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS). He has lived in Taiwan for many years and his postgraduate education was completed at National Chengchi University. He has also worked as a political commentator for the Taiwan Representative Office in the UK. Although based in the UK, he visits Taiwan regularly.
