Dr Fleur Adcock

Dr Fleur Adcock is a researcher at The Australian National University and a New Zealand citizen. Fleur researches and lectures in Indigenous peoples’ rights and international law. Her specialisation is the human rights situation of Maori in New Zealand and the domestic influence of international human rights norms and institutions. Fleur has contributed her expertise to United Nations fora, including as an invited regional expert at the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues’ 2015 International Expert Group meeting. Fleur holds a PhD in international human rights law from The Australian National University. She also holds a Master of Laws with Distinction and Bachelor degrees from New Zealand universities. Fleur was admitted to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand over a decade ago. Prior to commencing her academic career, Fleur spent several years working as a solicitor in New Zealand and as in-house legal counsel in the United Kingdom. Fleur is willing to advise legal representatives in refugee cases on the social and political context in New Zealand, especially in relation to indigenous peoples.
